About Us

Project Lifesaver is the search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies, and is strategically designed for “at risk” individuals who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering. The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a cognitive condition. People with Autism, Down Syndrome, Dementia/Alzheimer’s, and brain injuries make up the majority of PLS clientele. Clients in need are fitted with a wrist band that contains a transmitter that emits a unique signature which can be located by equipment our trained trackers follow. Consolidated Fire District 1 (CFD1) operates the program for Douglas County.
