About Us

CSL therapies are used to treat coagulation disorders including hemophilia and von Willebrand disease, primary immune deficiencies, hereditary angioedema, inherited respiratory disease, and neurological disorders. The company’s products are also used in cardiac surgery, organ transplantation, burn treatment and to prevent hemolytic disease of the newborn. Plasma is a straw-colored liquid that carries red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
Plasma is made up of water (about 90%), proteins and clotting factors (8%), and small amounts of salts, glucose (blood sugar) and lipids (fats). Plasma helps to maintain a satisfactory and steady level of blood pressure as well as deliver proteins for blood clotting purposes and fighting various diseases. Plasma also helps to keep a pH balance, which is important for cells to function correctly.
The versatility of plasma makes it valuable for people who are sick. It is the essential ingredient for products crucial to treating patients suffering from many different life-threatening diseases and conditions, including hemophilia, shock or trauma, immune deficiencies and other blood disorders.
At the Lawrence CSL collection center, we are dedicated to our donors, employees, recipients and community.
