Government & Community Affairs Luncheon

The Chamber hosts Government & Community Affairs Luncheons the second Wednesday of each month open to any Chamber member and features speakers on a variety of topics, ranging from voting and elections to affordable housing and economic development. This month, we will have leaders from City of Lawrence Transit and Parking on hand to discuss several current and upcoming projects, including Central Station (15th & Crestline) and Route Redesign, Downtown Station, Bus Stop Improvements, and upcoming Parking changes.
 
Together, Lawrence Transit and the University of Kansas provide public transportation services that enhance the social, educational, economic and environmental well-being of the community. This encompasses 20 fixed routes: 10 city routes, 2 coordinated routes, and 8 university routes, covering 31 square miles within the city limits of Lawrence. Lawrence Transit also provides complementary Americans with Disabilities Act paratransit services (T Lift), and night-time demand response service. Working together, Lawrence Transit and KU have received multiple ridership awards in FTA Region 7, an APTA Ad Wheel award for the coordinated Transit Guide and achieved efficiencies in almost every area of their operations.
