Forum: Restorative Practices - What's Next After the Vote?
A forum titled “Restorative Practices: What's Next After The Vote?” will be presented by the League Saturday, April 14 from 1 to 3:30 pm at the Bert Nash Center Auditorium, 200 Maine Street. We will gather at 1 pm and the panel discussion will begin at 1:30 pm. The moderator is Dr. Clarence Lang, professor at University of Kansas, the presenters are; Patrick Schmitz, Bert Nash CEO; Mike Brouwer, Douglas County Re-Entry Coordinator; Jose Cornejo, Mental Health Facilitator for the Lawrence Public Schools; Chief District Court Judge Peggy Kittel; and Lawrence Attorney Julia Butler. The purpose of the forum is not a pro/con session regarding the County's jail sales tax ballot but a presentation of facts, current status, and capacity to address inmate and mental health needs and where we go from here.
