Please join us at Maceli's, Wednesday, July 16, from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., for a meet and greet function with the candidates for our upcoming elections, presented in conjunction with the Voter Education Coalition (VEC).
All candidates on the August and November ballots will be invited, including those in the contested races for the 45th Kansas House Republican (Tom Sloan/Jeremy Ryan Pierce), 46th Kansas House Democratic (Abbie Hodgson/Dennis 'Boog' Highberger) and 1st Douglas County Commission (Mike Gaughan/Greg Robinson).
Guests will be introduced to the candidates and hear their respective positions and visions on issues that impact Lawrence and Douglas County. For a preview of some of the candidates' positions, video footage from another recent forum can be viewed on Channel 6's website HERE.
In addition to the meet and greet, guests will also hear an update on the development of the new Dwayne Peaslee Technical Training Center.
Named for long-time union rep and tech-training advocate, Dwayne Peaslee, the 77000 square foot facility will address the long-standing need for technical training, long seen as significant stumbling block in attracting new jobs to the area.
This event is free and open to the public to attend.
To reserve a space at the event, please call (785) 865.4411 or email ahandshy@lawrencechamber.com.
Special thanks to Black Hills Energy and Gaches, Braden & Associates for their generous assistance in keeping this valuable voter resource free to attend!
