2017 Severe Weather Symposium
Severe weather season is just around the corner! Annually, Douglas County Emergency Management helps communities prepare by hosting the Severe Weather Symposium. In its 17th year, the event is a full day of incredible storm videos, severe weather event case studies, and more from experts in the field from the public and private sector. To end the day, a panel discussion is held with the presenters, National Weather Service meteorologists, and local television meteorologists.
Saturday Mar 4, 2017
The Severe Weather Symposium is held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Lawrence, Kansas. There is a $15 registration fee for participants which includes a light breakfast, lunch and a full day of training from experts in the field. Vendor spaces start at $50 for a single table, and sponsorships start at $250.
For more information or to become a sponsor or vendor at the Symposium, please contact Jillian Rodrigue of Douglas County Emergency Management or visit our website.
This advanced symposium is the only of its kind in Kansas and Missouri which supports emergency managers, meteorologists, community members, spotters, amateur radio volunteers, etc. These are the individuals who provide vital, real-time reports to the integrated warning team (local media, emergency management and National Weather Service) in an effort to help alert our communities as early and accurately as possible when severe weather strikes. This event is open to everyone, but requires registration and a $15 fee to attend.
Are there opportunities for your business or organization? Yes! You can join us as a vendor or sponsor because we want to help you share your products and services with our audience and it’s your support that keeps the fee to attend at a minimumImages
