SAT | NOV 12 | 1:00 PM - 4 PM | Lawrence Public Library Auditorium
As a co-sponsor of this educational event, Lawrence Public Library will be creating a book display geared towards teenagers and adults to help you better understand the issues of housing that can lead to chronic homelessness along with books that detail experiences of unhoused peoples.
Grounded in human rights and social justice, the mission of the Lawrence Community Shelter is to advance compassionate solutions for people facing homelessness through advocacy, shelter, and housing. Join us on November 12th at the Lawrence Public Library as we debunk stereotypes about homelessness and discuss the complex realities of the housing crisis!
Did you know that income inequality is at its highest level ever recorded in U.S. history? Did you know that the life expectancy for someone facing chronic homelessness is only 50 years of age? A new event, Understanding Homelessness with the Lawrence Community Shelter, will feature a series of educational tables in the auditorium that are open to the public for walk-ins between 1-4 PM. Participants are encouraged to spend about 20-30 minutes in this interactive event for a full experience.
