The November election includes a question on whether to change the current Commission-Manager form of government and adopt a Modified Mayor-Council Manager form of government. The proposed new structure would include a directly elected, nonpartisan Mayor, and six non-partisan Council members, with four representing newly created districts and two at-large.
Speakers include: Dr. Chris Koliba, the Edwin O. Stene Distinguished Professor of Public Administration, Policy & Governance at KU; Dr. John Nalbandian, Professor Emeritus, KU School of Public Affairs and Administration and former Lawrence Mayor who served as chair of the Government Restructure Task Force; and Cori Wallace, City of Lawrence Director of Communications and Community Relations.
Coffee will be served.
