| Extreme environments exhibit conditions that are deadly for most forms of life. Some animals have nonetheless colonized and thrive in habitats that are extremely hot, cold, toxic, or permanently dark. Michi Tobler, Kansas State University Professor of Biology, will introduce a peculiar group of fishes - the livebearers - that occur in toxic springs and caves and discuss how adaptation allows them to cope with the inhospitable conditions. |
