There have been many news stories and opinions expressed about the first days of the 2011 Legislature and the introduction of new Republican Gov. Sam Brownback's plan of action for Kansas. The Lawrence Chamber's first 2011 Eggs and Issues Breakfast on Saturday, February 12th, in the Alton Ballroom at Pachamama's, from 8-9:30 a.m. is the place to hear first-hand from our legislators about what is going on in Topeka. There is a tremendous responsibility on our state government to balance the budget with projected deficits as high as a half billion dollars and maintain adequate funding for our local schools, higher education, health care, highways and law enforcement. The entirety of our local delegation has been invited. In addition House Majority Leader Arlen Siegfried (R), Olathe has agreed to attend. They will present their thoughts and opinions and take your questions. If you haven't attended Eggs and Issues in recent years, now is the time to get involved again. The food will be good, the comments will become headlines and you will be there to ask the questions. Make your reservations today! Cost to attend is just $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members. To register online, visit www.lawrencechamber.com, or contact Adam Handshy at ahandshy@lawrencechamber.com or 865.4427 to make your reservation by phone or email. Please note, due to the Chamber's upcoming move, online registration will only be available through Tuesday, Feb. 8; all reservations after that date will need to be made by phone.
