DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Tuesday\, October 17 to celebrate the ribbon cutting for The Children's Shelter\, formerly The Shelter Inc. The Kid's Shelter will celebrate a new name\, new logo\, and new location! The office will officially open with the ribbon cutting\, followed by office tours. You'll have an opportunity to visit with staff to learn about the work they do in our community\, and we will enjoy dinner together. We will also be thanking and celebrating our long-time Executive Director\, Judy Culley\, as she officially retires after 36 years of service to our agency and Kansas children and families.\n\n\n\nHere's more about The Children's Shelter: \n\n\n\nThe mission of The Shelter Inc is to improve the lives of children and families\, with a focus on children at risk in Douglas County and northeast Kansas. The Shelter Inc has been serving children and families from Lawrence\, KS and surrounding communities since 1981\, when our first emergency shelter facility opened. Since that time\, the agency has diversified and grown to meet the needs of our community while striving to provide the highest standard of care.
